I really didn't like this movie much. I gave it two stars rather than one because I didn't hate it, but I was a v. disappointed in the sequel. It didn't seem to follow the book that well. I actually liked the book a lot. The fact that Hugh Grant was in the film, hits home how far they strayed from the book because his character wasn't in the book. It seemed to be all over the place and just not that funny or romantic or serious. I'm not really sure what they were going for in this film. I did like the little surprise twist ending, but maybe that was because I was so ready for the movie to end!

Netflix Synopsis: This sequel to the hit movie Bridget Jones's Diary begins four weeks after the final events of the first film. The formerly single Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) discovers that life with her new beau, barrister Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), isn't everything it was cracked up to be, and neither is her new job as a news reporter for the "Sit Up Britain" television show. Co-stars Hugh Grant, Jacinda Barrett and Jim Broadbent.

I pretty much hated it. And I was predisposed to really like it because I love Colin Firth, I enjoyed the first movie a lot, and I liked the second book. But I couldn't stand the movie. It really didn't have a story at all to it. I knew how bad it was when I was rooting for Hugh Grant! Colin Firth's character just came across as a jerk most of the time.

Also, one thing that really was intriguing me was how they were going to handle the HILARIOUS scene in the book where she interviewed Colin Firth. But they just didn't do it. I know it would have been problematic but I can't forgive them for not using some creativity and tackling it.

Agreed. I guess he's supposed to come off as not being good at showing his emotions, but he ends up coming off as a jerk. Did the part with Rebecca happen in the book? If so, I don't remember it. I found that entertaining. The part in Thailand reminded me of watching Brokedown Palace. Seemed like the same prison, same story, etc.

No, in the book Rebecca really WAS after Mark. She was always plotting to get with him.
