I thought this movie was pretty good for a rental. I don’t follow comic books, therefore I had never heard of Harvey Pekar prior to this film. With that said, I still found his story interesting. I liked how it was filmed. The real Harvey Pekar was in the movie as the narrator and he was sometimes showed on the set while the movie was being filmed. After seeing him and his wife, I thought Paul Gimatti and Hope Davis did a great job representing the two of them.
Netflix Synopsis: Harvey Pekar (Paul Giamatti) was a working-class stiff, a file clerk who found an outlet for his creativity by chronicling every minutia of his life in Cleveland, Oh., for more than 20 years in a comic-book series called American Splendor. This revealing biopic co-stars Hope Davis and tells Pekar's story through two-dimensional images, archival footage and more.
