If you live in New York City and have a problem with noise, I highly recommend CitiQuiet windows. The CitiQuiet Interior Soundproof Window is installed into the existing window opening (on the window sill) a few inches away from the existing window, creating a space of dead air.

We've had the 50% soundproof windows in our bedrooms for awhile. We just had them installed in our living room and we got the 95% soundproof windows and they are amazing. You wouldn't even know that we live in the city and we normally get a lot of noise from the street, especially the buses. I highly recommend these windows. The 50% windows definitely help, but I wish we had the 95% windows throughout the apartment. So I'd say if you do it, go straight for the 95% soundproofing.

For more info, see http://www.citiquiet.com

If you use them ask for David Skuden. He's really friendly and helpful.

The lower noise reduction on the 50" x 57" windows were $1080.00 a piece.

It's hard to say what they would charge you for the 95% noise reduction because I think we got a discount for being a repeat customer. We paid $3000 for 2 additional windows at 95% noise reduction. One window was 50" x 58" and one was 106" x 57". Again, I think we were given a discount.

I personally had a horrible experience with Citiquiet. Their customer service was just plain bad. I'm not really sure what other companies are like (there are a few others in NYC I think), but I personally would recommend that people stay away from Citiquiet.

By the way, my prices were similar to yours. We had two windows ~60x100 and the total was about $3900. But you will tear your hair out dealing with them. Mark Cohen was my account guy and I never really heard from him after the initial rough measurement of our windows.

I posted a blog of my experience. Please add to it, because mine is obviously just one experience, albeit a horrible one. You can check it out at:

I actually had an incredible response from CitiQuiet windows. They did my living room, bedroom and my daughter's bedroom. I went with the 90% noise protection windows. They arrived in 3 weeks and, I can't begin to tell you what a lifesaver they are. We all actually sleep, and even better when my out of town relatives come over they all remark how they don't even feel like they're in the city because of how quiet it is. Before, I used to get so much slack for living in the city and having my daughter grow up in a noisy city.

Seriously, if you've not a noise issue - call citiquiet windows, or visit their website:
