for everyone

I just finished watching this movie and I'm in shock. I'm not sure what to say. I definitely thought it was a very good movie. It's about Kathy Nicolo (played by Jennifer Connelly) who unfairly loses her family home to the county. An exiled Iranian air force colonel (played by Ben Kingsley) sees the house up for auction and buys it to resell for profit. Kathy will stop at nothing to get her house back. The colonel will not return the house because he thinks the house belongs to him. It's hard to review the movie without giving too much away. Let's just say it was very thought provoking, shocking, depressing and very disturbing. I wasn't sure who I wanted to win the battle. Obviously, she deserves her house back, but he bought the house with his hard earned money and it's the one chance to get ahead in this country. I guess that is how real life is sometimes though. There isn't always a perfect answer.

I think this is a good movie to discuss with people who have already seen it.

A friend of mine read the book, and decided it was too intense of a story to watch the movie. I think I might like it, so I will probably rent it.

The book is amazing. I highly recommend you read it prior to seeing the movie.

Jennifer Connolly's performance is just amazing.

Really? Sometimes when I do that, I end up HATING the movie bc it is so sub-par to the book. Bourne Identitiy is the perfect example. Awesome book - heck awesome series, but the movie just didn't cut it.

Good fight scenes, but the plot was a bit off and didn't really cover the most important and interesting parts of the book.

I agree -- there have been times when the movie has just been ruined for me because it doesn't meet my expectations of the book, but at the same time, in this case, the book's prose gets you so into the themes and the characters of the book, it just doesn't matter.
