Jean-Luc is a really great French restaurant. I had been meaning to try it for some time and we finally decided to try it last night. I was really pleased with the elegant décor for a restaurant on Columbus Avenue. Most of the restaurants are much more casual in that area. The food was delicious. For an appetizer I had a crab cake with avocado and black beans. I know, that combination sounds weird for a French restaurant, but it was really good. Even though it sounds like it should be served at a Mexican restaurant, there was something different that allowed them to pull it off. For an entrée, I had grilled salmon with fingerling potatoes, spinach and mushrooms with an amazing sauce. I also split a really good mixed green salad with goat cheese with my husband. It was a really nice meal. It’s a little on the expensive side, but worth it for a special occasion.

We've been here several times and really enjoyed it. It has a nice ambience and great food. I'm glad it's still in business because the UWS needs some more restaurants like this!

Did they name this place after Jean-Luc Picard (from Star Trek NG)?

Number One to the bridge!

I read this thread hoping to "hear" Walter's Picard impression, and I was not dissappointed!

How busy is the restaurant? Do you think I'd need reservations for a weeknight?
