Here are the pictures from my one attempt at being adventurous.
My first experience was in June of 1995 on the sand dunes in North Carolina. I went with my friend Shelly. I had so much fun. It was pretty easy and they did everything for you. After you flew to the bottom of the dunes, they would carry your hang glider back to the top for you. It was very fun. When you landed there was smooth sand to break the landing. So then I got really excited and thought wow, I want to start hang gliding. I started looking at pictures on the Internet and became very excited with my imagination running wild thinking of all the fun I would have on this new adventure. I talked to my friend Matt at work and we decided to plan a hang gliding adventure. Matt, Mary, Henry and I all went hang gliding in July of 1995 someplace in VA. This didnt turn out to be as fun as I imagined. Since we were no longer on the sand dunes, the landing wasnt as smooth. After one crash landing and my legs getting all scraped up, I talked Henry into giving me his pants. Then the bugs started swarming around me and driving me crazy. Did I also mention this was in July? Yes, it was very hot, humid and uncomfortable. If Matt gets on to Multiply he can feel free to elaborate on how much fun I am to be around when I have scratched up legs, bugs swarming around me and Im hot AND did I mention HUNGRY!!! Anyway, I think I learned that day that Im not an adventurous girl!

Even if you don't do it again, you rock. I would love to do hang gliding sometime. I did skydiving almost 2 years ago and can't wait to do it again! You should come down to VA and try that instead... (very peaceful - at least once the chute opens!)
Ohhh...I remember you telling me about this day trip. You had some very funny stories. :)
mace wrote on May 16, '04 That's cool! I have a long-standing dream of hang-gliding, but my dream is of doing what you did the first time - hang-gliding off the dunes in Kitty Hawk. I think I'm too much of a wimp to do it from really up high.
What a scenic picture, though, it looks like you're headed straight for the power lines! Dzzzzzzzzz
That is awesome! I should take a break from powered flight one day and try that, it looks really cool.

Hi, Tracy. Nice pictures. In my country [ specially in my city, Rio de Janeiro ], the people jump with their hang glidings to Pedra da Gávea [ Gávea's Stone ] at Praia de São Conrado [ São Conrado's beach ]. It's really a beautiful vision... the sea, sand... blue sky and wind... Soon, I'll send to you some pictures and you'll see all beauty. Kiss, Tomsax
