Oprah is going to post fugitives pictures and profiles that are child predators to her website every Friday. Please check her site every Friday to see the latest fugitives. Call the FBI if you know any of them and/or think you might know of them. She will be working with the local authorities and will give $100,000 to anyone responsible for their capture.

She also has some information on how to protect your family from child predators.

I watched this episode of Oprah yesterday, and it was so disturbing, but it really hit home. It too, made me want to do everything in my power to stop this heinous epidemic. I appreciate you posting this for all to view. Thanks

Tracy, when I watched this yesterday I actually wondered if you were watching this!

I truly hope Oprah's generosity and celebrity will help with this outrageousness.

Remember me telling you about the football star from Webster Groves High molesting one of Brooke's friends? He was convicted. Guess what his sentence was? Only 120 days in prison. Can you believe that? What I find appalling about this is not just the pittance of punishment he received for ruining this poor girl's life, but the reactions by some in the community! Some are saying they "firmly" believe he will never do this again and how "sad" they are for "him". How he "really is a good person who merely made a bad choice." Bullshit! All those sick animals got started somewhere! Maybe their first offense was deemed a "bad choice", too. And perhaps they were punished with a mere slap on the wrist which permitted them to prey on all those poor children who became their later victims.

I am watching it right now and I am appalled and what is happening in our own backyards. I agree that once convicted they should NEVER get out. Never. What can we do to help put an end to this abuse?

I wish I knew. I think it starts at the grassroots level with individuals lobbying members of congress to pass predator laws, like Jessica's Law. I think it takes an incredible amount of courage and vigilance on the part of victims and their parents.

The case I mentioned above resulted in a grassroots effort called "Cherish the Innocent". Fundraising by this group so far has included an organized run/walk and a bracelet sale.

I think a lot of parents shelter their children if it happens to them and maybe this perpetuates shame. I don't know? It's easy for me to say this, because fortunately it never happened to me or anyone in my family. A good friend of mine was molested by a neighbor and she says if it ever happens to one of her kids she will not make them go through the horrors of an investigation and trial...she'll keep it underwraps. I guess, as a parent, I can understand her wanting to protect her child, but I would like to think the process of standing up for your child and doing everything possible to get the molester behind bars would aid in the healing. I don't know...hope I never do.

BTW, Carol, you look a lot like my best friend Lisa. She's pictured in my photos under Book Club.

Wow! That is really sick Debbie! 120 days!!! What's the point? It's really sad to think what he might do in the future after receiving this positive response from the community.

This whole topic just makes me sick! Obviously, there are many different situations, but when a person is truly raped or tortured in some way, the person responsible should be locked up and never let out regardless of the reason. That is sick behavior. Honestly, I am more forgiving to somebody that commits a crime for money than for pleasure. Those that do it for pleasure, are the true sickos in this world and I don't believe in their rehabilitation, nor do I think they deserve another chance.

I hear you! It seems the punishments for crimes commited for money are much stiffer than those that violate a person.

I don't believe these people can be rehabilitated either.

In TX they are looking at another level for this kind of thing and it would have the death penalty.
